About the Club

A picturesque parkland course nestling between the quaint village of Barbon and the River Lune - with its continuous development it is now recognised as one of the top golf courses in the north west- with its lush fairways well manicured first cut and inviting greens. Designed to be an enjoyable challenge to every golfer, whether you’re competitive or just enjoy playing in beautiful surroundings.

The Club - is an equal opportunities club with no restrictions on ladies or juniors tee times, or use of the Clubhouse. Members guest’s and visitors are expected to observe the Clubs dress code and etiquette whilst on the course or in the clubhouse.

The Ladies - section is growing rapidly and currently, has over 100 members. We are a friendly and enthusiastic group of varying expertise, and welcome new members of all levels. Competition and social Golf and events are both well catered for throughout the year. Our Ladies day is Wednesday with Saturday as the alternate Medal day. Many of the major club's competitions including the Club Championship, are played at the Weekends. We enter Teams in both the Silver and Bronze inter-club events and competitions, and run Spring and Autumn opens.

The Seniors - An enthusiastic group who meets on a Monday and enjoy a full programme of competitions within the Club some with the ladies. Outside the club they enjoy many away days and matches against other clubs in the area.

The Juniors - Kirkby Lonsdale golf club has always prided it’s self on it’s encouragement of junior’s with fund raising events, enabling our Professional to give free coaching. He also helps with competitions and attaining initial handicaps. Coming out of our system over a long period of time we have had many achieve handicaps of below 5 and gone on to be coached and play at County level, this includes girls. Two boys have gone on to be professional golfers. During the summer they play in matches and in open competitions.

The home of the Lake District, only 15 miles west of Kirkby Lonsdale. This is the area William Wordsworth considered to be "The loveliest spot that man hath ever found" . The Lake District became a National Park in 1951, and with an area of almost 900 square miles (2330 sq km) it is the largest in England and Wales. More picturesque and diverse scenery can be found here than in any comparable area of Britain.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is just 7 miles to the east, an area of fells and dales - James Herriot's Yorkshire. Walking is a favourite pastime in these areas with the Coast To Coast Walk and the Pennine Way both passing through the region.

Kirkby Lonsdale
Nearby is Kirkby Lonsdale a historic market town which has been visited over the years by several famous artists. In 1816 J W Turner visited the town as part of his tour of the dales. Wordsworth had recommended him to see the Lune Valley from the churchyard and the painting "Kirkby Lonsdale Church yard" was a result of this visit. When possible, John Ruskin used to visit the sites of Turners paintings and was greatly taken by the town. Ruskin's View is one of the attractions of Kirkby Lonsdale and the "Church yard " painting includes this view.
