British Amateur Champion 1991 and 2003, and captain of The Walker Cup Team
"Having spent several years in my youth within a few miles of Grange - over - Sands Golf Club, I have seen the course develop from a 'green field' site into the well wooded course that you see today
I have played the course several times over the past few years and have thoroughly enjoyed a friendly game each Christmas. The course in spite of being flat is not a push over and presents many interesting and varied shots to quite small greens. The short holes are particularly good. The rough can be quite punishing and straight driving is required to score well.
I can thoroughly recommend Grange - over - Sands Golf Club as a must for visitors to South Cumbria"

"I love playing Grange over Sands Golf Course, it's always in very good condition, and despite being flat, is a good test of golfing skills, especially the subtle undulating greens."

"I first played Grange over Sands in the Summer of 2003, when a number of us came on a golfing holiday. I enjoyed it so much I came back with my wife for a mid week break in September, then again in March 2004 and have just returned for a fourth time. The course seems to have improved on each visit. A must for any golfer thinking of visiting The Lake District. The staff and members are friendly, and the catering excellent."
The course was in the best condition I have ever seen it in. The conditions were great. The course was dry and the green's (for the time of year and considering the recent snow etc) were in excellent condition. As always the welcome was warm and the food was excellent. Well worth the money and we will return again soon.
Not a long course but can punish you if you venture off the fairways into the trees. The 8th hole is great, with its challenging green set admist a fantastic backdrop.
