Teeing Off in Toronto: A Golfer's Travel Review

Toronto, Canada's largest city, is a bustling metropolis known for its towering skyscrapers, vibrant cultural scene, and, yes, its excellent golf courses. As an avid golfer, I found Toronto to be a treasure trove of golfing experiences that cater to both the seasoned pro and the enthusiastic amateur.

The Golf Courses

My golf adventure in Toronto began at the Eagles Nest Golf Club, an impressive course sculpted into the rolling hills just north of the city. With its challenging terrain, strategic bunkering, and breathtaking views, Eagles Nest provided a thrilling start to my golf trip.

Next, I played at the St. George's Golf and Country Club, one of Canada's premier private golf clubs. Although access is restricted, it's worth making connections to play this Stanley Thompson masterpiece. It's a classic parkland course that has hosted several Canadian Opens, offering a test of golf that is both demanding and visually stunning.

I also visited the Angus Glen Golf Club, which offers two championship courses. Both North and South courses provide a challenging yet enjoyable round of golf, with immaculately maintained fairways and greens. The club has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including the Canadian Open, and it was easy to see why.

The City Beyond the Green

Beyond the golf, Toronto offered a wealth of attractions. I visited the iconic CN Tower, strolled around the Distillery District, and explored the vibrant neighborhoods of Kensington Market and Queen West. The city's culinary scene proved to be a delight, with an array of global cuisines on offer.

After a long day on the course, I particularly enjoyed relaxing at some of the city's craft breweries. Bellwoods Brewery, located on trendy Ossington Avenue, served up some fantastic brews that were the perfect end to a day of golf.

Verdict

Toronto delivered an exceptional golf vacation. The city's diverse golf courses, combined with its rich culture and urban attractions, made for an unforgettable trip. Whether you're a serious golfer looking for world-class courses or a casual player seeking a fun round amidst your city exploration, Toronto has something for every golfer.

I left Toronto with a golf bag full of memories, a deeper love for the game, and a promise to myself to return soon. For any golf enthusiast, a trip to Toronto comes highly recommended.
