Johnson Wagner wins Sony Open
PGA Tour

Fighting the pack all the way, Wagner, with his new found Magnum style moustache and a steady head, won the Sony Open in Hawaii, taking his first victory of the season and his third PGA Tour title.

Wagner started the last round two shots of the lead at Waialae Country Club, but with an error-free final back nine he closed the event with a three-under-par 67.

Wobberling slightly on the par-five last hole, he hit is his third from a green side bunker, approached it to 10-feet and saw his putt enter the cup from the right edge.

The final round started with 6 players tied on the top spot and at one point 21 players were three strokes off the lead.

Scoring was tough, with a strong ocean breeze and firm. palm tree-lined Waialae layout, the final round proved very unpredictable with a birdies and bogeys piling up.

It was a little shaky. Leaving that birdie putt short was pretty pathetic really, but knowing that I had four from there sure made it easier.

Harrison Frazer, one of the six players who shared the lead going into the final round, carded a 67 to tie second place with Sean O'Hair,, Charles Howell III and the Swede Carl Patterson.

Matt Every, who was the co-leader overnight bogeyed three of the first four holes on his way to a 72 and joint sixth place.

Britain's Greg Owen tied 59th and even though he was top of the greens in regulation statistics, his 32.8 putt average hurt his game.
