The Roxburghe Golf Course

Sam Torrance "Roxburghe's signature hole, The Viaduct, is my favourite 14th tee in Scotland! It's such a beautiful hole in such a glorious setting"

7111 yards Par 72 Course Record held by Sergio Garcia at 66 Scotland's 5th best inland course Current Scottish Seniors Open, Roxburghe Champion 2004, Bill Longmuir The Duke of Roxburghe, an avid golfer, commissioned Dave Thomas to build this challenging course on his estate which was opened in 1997.

The result of Thomas's design bears his distinct hallmark of deep challenging bunkers and large rolling greens.

The wide fairways follow the natural contours of the land, making full use of the various changes in elevations.

The signature "Viaduct" hole is an elevated tee commanding views of the River Teviot that hug the left of the fairway with an imposing viaduct in the background.

The heart of the course are the par threes, play those well and you'll likely make a good score as three of them are around the 190 yards mark. Because of water hazards on two and bunkering on the third, the ball has to be long, high and straight to have any chance of reaching the putting surface in regulation.

When Colin Montgomerie opened the course with Nick Faldo, he commented "I was impressed with the design and the quality of The Roxburghe. The Greens were immaculate and the course picturesque, a pleasure to play for professional and amateur alike".
