Courses & Scorecards

Seaford Golf Course

Seaford is a true downland golf course set on the Sussex Downs overlooking the English Channel, to the east the start of the Seven Sisters and to the west the Port of Newhaven. At some point on virtually every hole there are glorious views of the sea and the Downs.

The 18 hole course is 6546 yards from the back tees, with a par of 69 but a SSS of 71. From the visitors tees, it is 6234 yards, with a SSS of 70. There are 3 long par fours and only one par 5 and the overall length of the course is reflected in the SSS being higher than the par.

Being set high up on the South Downs the wind direction has a major effect. For example, the 9th one day can be a drive and a wedge but the next day will be two full shots to reach the green.

The 17th hole is particularly worthy of note, being judged by some to be one of the finest holes in Sussex. Recently, two extra holes have been added, which enables the golfer to play the front nine and then cut across to the two new holes and head for the clubhouse.

Being on chalk, water drains away quickly and even in the wettest weather we, unlike many others, are very rarely closed for play.

Lovely coarse to play on a day like today. The weather was fantastic and the coarse was in great shape. Having never played it before I wanted a coarse guide but they had run out.

Playing tips:

Take an extra club when playing short holes.
