About the Club

If you have played Hexham you will need no persuasion about the merits of the course. If you haven't, you have a treat in store! A traditional parkland course on fast draining land on the south side of the River Tyne, Hexham Golf Club is a tough enough test of golf to regularly host County events, yet at 6,301 from the medal tees it is enjoyable for club golfers of all standards. The greens are regularly amongst the best in the County, and the views over the confluence of the North and South Tyne and surrounding countryside are stunning.

It does not stop there. The Georgian Clubhouse is a Grade One listed building. Inside the hospitality is controlled by our resident Chef Patron who can provide anything from simple soup and sandwiches to a five course gourmet dinner. The Dining Room, or Robb Lounge can be booked exclusively for corporate or social events.

Directions

Hexham Golf Club is on the B6531 some 20 minutes west of Newcastle and with easy access from the A69, via the B6531. It is approximately 1 mile west of the attractive market town of Hexham.

Hexham Golf Course

One of the interesting things about Hexham is that the first and last holes require some tough decisions and can decide what sort of round you will have. Even if you've started well the 18th hole can be in the back of your mind as you wonder whether risking trying for a birdie on the last.

Certainly the first hole is a major deal and in particular the tee shot. It is a par five hole but can be reached in two. Imagine the thrill of getting an eagle on the first hole! Do you get the driver out and go for it, risking going out of bounds, or play safe and take par? It really forces you into a test of confidence straight away.

Every green will be a challenge to the players. There are a lot of subtle borrows and they play very quick. The greens have a habit of catching a lot of people out so they should study the contours carefully before making their putts.
