About the Club

Nestling in the River Eden valley, below the hills straddling the counties of Kent, Surrey and Sussex, the 18 hole Kings & Queens course, which opened in June 1992, plays host to the Kent PGA Championship.
It measures 7002 yards (6328 metres) at its full length, par being 72 (SS74), with a course record of 68.

Few clubs can boast such an array of stunning holes which will test the most accomplished golfer and inspire the less experienced. The 2nd overlooks historic Hever Castle and the water holes, the 5th, 6th, 11th, 12th and 13th, are real feature holes. However, the hole that most golfers talk about is the 17th which, at 644 yards off the championship tee, is one of the longest holes in Europe.

The 9 hole Princes Course opened in June 1998. Although not as long as the other nines, it provides a good test of golf for players of all abilities. Accuracy is the key, especially on the two par 3 holes both played across water.

Hever Castle Golf Club is located 20 minutes off junctions 5 and 6 of the M25 and a warm welcome awaits.

Directions

From the M25 Anti-clockwise
At junction 6 of the M25, take the A22 turning to Godstone, then turn left onto the A25 to Sevenoaks. After 3 miles take the Edenbridge road and follow the signs to Hever Castle and the Golf Club is 1 mile further on the right.

From the M25 clockwise
From the M25 turn off at the A21 junction to Sevenoaks and one half mile into Bessels Green. Turn right into Bessels Green Lane, at the King's head Public House. At the top of the road turn right again and follow this lane for about 2 and a half miles. At the bottom of the steep hill bear left, do not continue on to Edenbridge road (B2042), and then a couple of miles further along go over the railway bridge and turn immediately right sign posted to Hever Castle. The golf course is one mile along the left hand side.

Courses & Scorecards

Kings & Queens Course

The setting alone is inspiration enough at Hever Castles 250 acre 27 hole course. Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, dates back to 1270. In 1903 William Waldorf Astor acquired the Castle and gradually added to the estate. In the 1920s the Astors created a nine hole golf course for their personal enjoyment, set around the Hever Castle lake and land to the north of Hever Castle, which survived until the Second World War when it was sadly abandoned.

The present day course was created by Dr Nicholson PhD. ARCS BSc, whose employment of the lands natural beauty and contours gives each hole its distinctive character. The 18 hole Kings & Queens Championship Course officially opened for play on 20th June 1992. It measures 7002 yards (6328 metres) at its full length, par being 72 (SS74).

Opened in June 1998 and designed by our Course Manager, David Wood, the nine hole Princes Course has been built to the highest specification. Although not as long as the other course it provides a good test of golf when combined with either Kings or Queens to make up 18 holes.

The Club has hosted the Kent P.G.A. Championship for five years, together with Junior tour events and, without exception, participants and organisers have congratulated the Club on the superb condition and challenging design of the course. For such a testing course, Hever Castle is surprisingly not intimidating to the less experienced golfer. The beautiful surroundings make playing the course a real pleasure.
