About the Club

Welcome to Downfield Golf Club . Downfield is recognised as one of the finest inland course in the United Kingdom. It has played host to many events over its long history. In the past tournaments like the S.P.G.A. Masters, Scottish Boys Stroke Play, P.G.A. Scottish Open, Scottish Amateur, British Girls Home Internationals, but it was the great honour of being a Final Qualifying venue for the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999, that has put Downfield Golf Club rightly, near the top of the tree as a golfing destination. Downfield has is hosting Final Open Qualifying in July 2007. 

Set in beautiful parkland, Dundee's premier course is a challenge to every golfer teeing off at the wonderful 1st hole and moving round the rolling contours of the course. The wildlife on the course is breathtaking with foxes, squirrels, deer, water fowl, ducks and buzzards, as well as many other interesting species scampering around. With over 100 species of tree within the perimeter it is no wonder people remember their visit long after they have gone away

Directions

Downfield is conveniently situated a few miles from the City Centre of Dundee and is within easy reach of other courses in the area such as St. Andrews (15 miles), Gleneagles (37 miles), Carnoustie (11 miles) and with over 50 other high calibre courses in the area we are well placed to play host to visiting golfers and overseas parties.

Where are we? Simply follow the main A90 (Kingsway) Perth - Aberdeen road through Dundee. Downfield Golf Course is clearly signposted from the main road at the Junction for the A923. Do not follow any signs that just say "Downfield

Downfield Golf Course

The course is considered a challenge to all abilities with a Par 70 (CSS 71) from the yellow tees, Par 73 (CSS 73) from the medal/championship tees and 75 from the ladies red tees. Set in stunning parkland on the outskirts of Dundee, it is a golfing experience everyone should try. For visitors we have put in a special Blue Course which is a Par 72 over 6500yards to extend the better player.

In 1999 Downfield Golf Club hosted the Open Final Qualifying for the first time in its history and proved a great venue for the worlds top players. Indeed the eventual winner of the 1999 Carnoustie Open Championship, Paul Lawrie came through the final qualifying at Downfield. The honour of hosting Open Final Qualifying will be repeated in 2007.

In 1972 the first ever Scottish Open was held here and Peter Alliss filmed one of his many TV specials from Downfield in the late 70's
