» Bunker Setup - Learning to play bunkers

Getting the right setup when in the bunker can simply mean the difference between getting out and not getting out. A few simple guides in this video can help ensure you get the correct setup to make sure you get the ball out every time.

The setup is crucial. When setting up to play a bunker shot, especially around the green, you will need a slightly more open stance and a club face that will be slightly open as well. Your feet will be pointing to 11 o'clock, your club at 1 o'clock and the ball should come out at 12 o'clock.

» Setup

Your stance should be open when playing green side bunkers. With your feet pointing to the left of the target and your open club face pointing to the right, the ball should come out straight.

» Hitting through

When striking the ball, hit around 1 inch or 2 cm's behind the ball. You want to the ball to come out on a cushion on sand. Being sure to strike the sand before the ball, will also give you confidence to hit through the shot every time.
