1. Quinta do Lago Estate Golf Course

Quinta do Lago is one of the Algarve’s largest golf destinations and its courses are rated among Europe’s top 25. The resort has hosted eight Portuguese Opens and continues to be the venue for national and international tournaments.

Golf at Quinta do Lago is an experience of Augusta type fare and generous, lush fairways are intermittently decorated with clusters of pine, heather, broom and wild flowers and the carefully tended greens, considered among the best in Portugal are fast, true and sometimes humbling.

2. Vilamoura Old Course

Situated in the heart of the Vilamoura seaside resort a mere 20-minute drive from Faro airport, this Frank Pennink designed parkland style layout is one of the oldest in the region and renowned all over the golfing world.

Often described as the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, it meanders throughout impressive pine trees - the principal hazard - over gently undulating natural terrain. Although it opened in 1969, the course was completely renovated and modernised 27 years later although no major changes were made to the magnificent layout.

3. Vale do Lobo Golf Course

Vale do Lobo is home to two challenging and outstanding golf courses – The Royal and the Ocean.  Based on original concepts by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton and re-developed by the respected American golf architect Rocky Roquemore, the Vale do Lobo courses have twice been host to the Portuguese Open.
