Course Review
There are two 18-hole layouts, of stark contrast, called Los Olivos and Los Lagos.
Both were designed by Robert Trent Jones senior in the mid 1970s, making them among the first in the area, and their characteristics are a reflection of their names – Los Olivos is set among olive groves and Los Lagos features nine water hazards, or lakes, and is the stiffer test where long-hitting is a definite advantage.
They are, despite their mountainous location, relatively flat, with mild undulations rather than steep hills, and feature open fairways.
Los Olivos is tighter, demanding a more surgical approach but both reflect the Trent Jones philosophy that bogey should be easy, and par difficult.
