La Cala ups the stakes on [Mijas](https://www.mulliganplus.com/clubs-by-town/Mijas) by now boasting three excellent layouts, American (formely the North), South and the recently opened Campo Europa, and consequently being the largest [golf resort on the Costa del Sol](https://www.mulliganplus.com/clubs-by-region/Costa%20Del%20Sol). All three were designed by Cabell Robinson, a protégé of Robert Trent Jones and the original pair of courses feature many large, elevated greens, which means that your approach and iron play has to be in good shape, and there are several water hazards, so your long game also has to be straight. \ The **Campo Europa** is more user-friendly, with generous fairways and greens, offering a larger target, and it’s arguably more attractive, making excellent use of the Ojen River, which is used as a subtle hazard on the eight holes at which it features. Spain’s only **David Leadbetter Golf Academy** is on site if you need help and the practice facilities are excellent.  \ La Cala Resort boasts three 18-hole championship courses designed by the renowned **Cabell Robinson, a star pupil of the legendary Robert Trent Jones**. It also has a top quality six-hole par 3 layout that is attached to the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Spain. With a five-star hotel and properties to rent, the visiting player or group need never leave the resort to enjoy a varied and thoroughly enjoyable golfing experience. \ A round of golf in any of the **La Cala courses** is an unforgettable experience. Alright, you may lose a few balls, your temper, your friends (temporarily) or all three but one thing you won’t lose is the memory of some of the most spectacular scenery to be found in any golf course in any part of the world. Set in a nature reserve, surrounded by mountains and the Mediterranean, the courses are carved amidst breathtaking scenery that will remain with you along after the final scores are tallied. \ The three 18-hole courses offer different challenges. **Campo America** hosted the Ladies European Tour Q-school in 2005 and 2006. It is longer than the tight, challenging **Campo Asia**. This course welcomed the top Spanish professionals in 2007 for 18th PGA Spanish Pairs Championship, won by Miguel Ángel and Andrés Jimenéz. **Campo Europa** opened in 2005 and has already drawn much favourable comment from the top players who regularly play and practice in La Cala. \ The par 3 course offers a great opportunity for beginners and experienced players alike to practice. It is quite challenging and offers views to the Mediterranean. \ The David Leadbetter Academy has covered and grass driving bays and the team of teaching professionals can design a teaching plan specially tailored for your needs. Advanced technologies available include Europe’s only TaylorMade Performance Lab, a SAM putting lab, zenoLINK biomechanics analysis, etc. There is also a practice green and a club-fitting service for any important equipment adjustments.
