The present golf course was designed in 1976 by Henry Cotton, when the new A3(M) motorway was built, slicing much of the east side of the old course away. Henry Cotton was well deserving of his place amongst the golfing greats, and of his nickname the ‘Maestro’. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1980 and Knighted in 1987. He won the Open 3 times – at Royal St George’s in 1934, Carnoustie in 1937 and Muirfield in 1948.
Waterlooville is renowned for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere and for its high standard of catering, which is the envy of many other Clubs.
(1) If using the motorway - A3(M):
From the North - exit the A3(M) at Junction 3, signposted B2150 'Waterlooville'. Take the right hand lane up the slip road to the roundabout and then the 3rd exit (back over the motorway you have just exited)
From the South - exit the A3(M) at Junction 3, signposted B2150 'Waterlooville'. Turn left at the top of the slip road and get into the right hand lane.
Take the right hand lane of the exit slip road and at the roundabout (500 yds) take the 3rd exit (signposted 'Hurstwood')
Go straight on at the small roundabout then follow the road for about half a mile to a sweeping left hand turn. Cherry Tree Avenue is second on the right after this turn. The entrance to the club is 500 yds up Cherry Tree Avenue, on the right.
(2) If using the old A3:
Exit the old A3 London road at Cowplain. Turn left (or right if approaching from the South) into Park Lane (opposite 'Lidl' in the shopping precinct). Cherry Tree Avenue is third on the left.
