| St. Margaret's has already hosted 3 international tournaments. It boasts big dramatic holes like the roller coaster twelfth, which rolls between two lakes and across a babbling brook to a majestically elevated green. As well as awesome struggles there are broad forgiving fairways, neat par threes and greens that play very true on this fascinating course. As you cross a stream on stepping stones, or step back to admire your approach landing inches from the pin, you'll find more to enjoy every day in St. Margaret's. HOST TO 2004 IRISH PGA CHAMPIONSHIP With it's great location, tour calibre course, and previous championship history, St. Margaret's was an obvious choice to host the 2004 Irish PGA championship. The tournament featured both former and present Ryder Cup stars, as well as many upcoming young Irish standouts. Padraig Harrington followed up a 4th place finish at the Masters in Augusta the week before with a dramatic win at St. Margaret's. Not decided until the 72nd hole, St. Margaret's magnificent 18th, Harrington edged former Ryder Cup standout Philip Walton in tough conditions during a blustery week. |
