Situated within a half-hours drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow with easy access of the M8 motorway and sited in a most picturesque situation the course has an exceptional layout with lush fairways and receptive greens providing a challenging test of golf. The Shotts Golf Club course was developed in 1936 by James Braid, after the club had relocated twice since it was founded in 1895. The club's famous 4th hole, the "The Devils Elbow", was voted one of the top holes in Scottish golf. The current course record was set by amateur Allyn Dick with an excellent 62. Professional Brian Gunston has carded a 65 and the ladies record is held by Margaret Robertson with a round of 72. |
