THE PRACTICE RANGE A short walk to the practice ground next to the 1st hole on Northam Burrows takes you to a huge area lined with marked Railway sleepers marked with distance markers from 100M to 200M. The surface is the same as the rest of the course and you play off firm grass (not mats) all year long so that your practice is properly preparing you for the course. THE PIMPLEY SHORT COURSE The Pimpley Course has transformed the short game of all the members that have tried it! Varying from a tricky 40 yard downhill 3rd to several holes around the 80 yard mark the Pimpley ground has given the members the opportunity to hone their short game and better their game. The Juniors and all beginners benefit from it tremendously too as they have been able to learn the intricasies of all aspects of the game, from scoring a card to tending the flag for their opponent. If you are just starting the game this is the place to learn ! The course is barely a year old and is maturing well, eventually the greens will be of similar standard to the full course. CHIPPING AND PUTTING PRACTICE At the beginning of 2005 the huge putting green at the front of the Clubhouse was totally relaid and unlike many golf courses it truly reflects the greens you will encounter on the course. The putting green annually host the Club Putting Championship and barbeque, which if you have never attended is a tremendous occasion, frequently many of the best golfers in the club are brought to their knees and 2006 was no exception as it was won by junior Georgina Snow (albeit off 9 !) |
