Mountrath Golf Club was founded in 1929 and affiliated to GUI in 1932. Originally a 9 hole course, it was extended to 18 holes in 1994. The course is situated 2 miles south from Mountrath, just off N1. Golfers will relish its fine, long fairways and well manicured greens.

Deep, well-shaped bunkers are scattered liberally throughout. The River Nore flows through the course and the old mill, once used to generate electricity stands close by. The Slieve Bloom Mountains nestle in the background.

The course presents a challenge to any golfer and is guaranteed to test the driving, pitching and putting ability of the best.
You are always sure of a warm welcome at the 19th hole.

If you miss that left dont worry, take the next left for Castletown and an immediate left. You are now driving along the 16th hole. Mountrath Golf Club is approximately 700m down the road on your right hand side.

Travelling from the Limerick go through Roscrea, Borris In Ossory and towards Mountrath. Castletown Village is on your right hand side before the junction to turn off for the Golf Club. Once you pass over the bridge for the River Nore, the right hand turn is approximately 250m further on. Indicate in plenty of time because this junction is very busy with Dublin/ Limerick traffic. Mountrath Golf Club is approximately 800m down the road on your right hand side.

When travelling from Cork/Kilkenny enter Abbeyleix Town and turn left at the traffic lights to R430. From Carlow it is straight through the lights to R430. Continue until you reach the square in Mountrath Town Square. Take a left turn for Limerick on N7, pass a Petrol Station on your left 800m and turn left after a further 500m. . The Golf club is 600 m down the road on your right hand side.
