Listed by Golf World in ‘The Best 10 ‘Open Championship’ Qualifying Courses’, and ‘Great Britain & Irelands Best 10 Opening Holes’, and described by Peter Alliss as “a real hidden gem”. Founded in 1895 Fairhaven has played host to major professional tournaments, including hosting the Final Qualifying for ‘The Open’ Championship. Fairhaven has also welcomed numerous other major golfing events such as amateur international matches against Italy and Spain, the later seeing the debut of a young Sergio Garcia. Other Championships include the English Boys, English Mid Amateur and Lancashire County Championships and matches. The course is maintained and presented to the highest standard consistently and its well-draining sandy sub-soil means that perfect playing conditions can be enjoyed throughout the year. It fully lives up to its designation as a Championship course and the Club enjoys entertaining all its visitors, when a warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed. |
