Esporta Douglaston Golf Course (Unmanaged)
| Very picturesque championship course set in 300 acres of the wooded Dougalston Estate with some mature tree-lined fairways, picturesque water hazards, strategically positioned bunkers and well-guarded greens. Designed in 1975 by Commander Harris, Stakis financed the project with the view to building a hotel complex. Brian Barnes and John Chillas opened the course in the summer of 1975 and commented on the stunning layout, which has proved to be a stern test of golf for all levels. In 2000 and 2001 the course underwent significant development under the Esporta banner. This included the introduction of two completely new holes and significant drainage improvements, and the new course lay-out was officially opened in July 2001 |
