Course designed by Ben Sayers & others in 1897 A parkland course with excellent turf ideal for 36 hole play suitable all ages a good test of golf. Full catering and bar service with seperate games and tv room. Well suited for visiting parties , quite flat , apart from the 18th when you can usually tell if someone is having a good round or not by the way they trudge up the hill, quite short , but well protected by trees and small tricky greens which are allways in superb condition. Par 67 comprises of 5 par threes and 13 par fours . The signature hole is the 11th which is a drive then a blind second shot 30ft down to a green that is walled on two sides by steep embankments and out of bounds left and through the green. Add to this two bunkers and a burn and it lets you know how tricky this hole is . The 11th hole is just part of what they call amen corner in canmore , it starts at the ninth with the burn running across the fairway and the loch at the back of the green , then the 10th hole with out of bounds running all the way along the hole on the left side as is the 11th . after the 11th you meet the 12th hole , a par three at just under 200 yards , where you have to hit a tee shot over a big gorge that is full of trees then to the 13th which is a par 3 of around the same length with out of bounds to the left of the green. If you have completed these holes not having dropped many shots then you should be on a decent score. The 19th hole is allways very welcoming and the food is excellent. The dress code is smart but casual , no football colours on the course or clubhouse. |
