Caird Park Golf Course (Established 1923) Caird Park golf course is set in extensive parkland on the northern outskirts of Dundee close to the city centre and is a testing course for golfers who wish to refresh their style of play and enjoy a relaxing game. A reasonably easy start belies the difficulty of the middle section holes 7 to 13. The 243-yard 12th hole is a particular test whilst the back 9 crosses the Gelly burn four times. Trees and rough help to tighten up the course considerable especially the first half. Caird Park finishes well and adds up to a most enjoyable round. Golf writer and former editor of Scottish Golf Martin Vousden writes: Set in parkland with mature trees Caird Park is an enjoyable layout. The course has some excellent holes, particularly around the turn where play involves criss-crossing the Gelly burn. Caird Park also boasts a testing 9 hole course, Athletics stadium, along with nature trails and the historic 16th century Mains Castle.
